Originally given its common name due to presumed genetic connection to Ravenea rivularis or "Majesty Palm", this paml . Highly adaptable to many environments, it grows predominantly in deep ravines throughout its native Madagascar. It has been noted that this variety of Ravenea is particularly insect and pathogen resistant in habitat as well.

Requirements Highly drought tolerant, this palm can undergo a number of extreme climate changes without damage. It prefers full sun and can withstand temperature drops down to 25 degrees Fahrenheit.
