This rapidly growing palm is native to a range of tropical habitats in southeast Asia. It is characterized by notable, toothed petioles and glossy, drooping leaves. It can reach heights of 45-50'OA in optimal conditions, with an average growth rate of over a foot per year. Its hardiness increases with age but is happiest in Cold Hardiness Zone 9b.

Requirements Prefers a position in full sun and will thrive when regularly watered. Soil should be consistently moist for this reason. It is one of the most cold tolerant palms known, with a moderate salt tolerance as well.
