With vibrant petioles of varying shades of red, this palm exists more often as an ornamental than it does in its habitat of origin. Hailing from the island of La Reunion, the Red Latan can reach up to 40'OA in an optimal habitat but is largely considered a medium sized palm. It is palmate, rigid and its leaves are a pale green or blue. Several other species exist and represent different dominant petiole colors of the Latan palm.

Requirements Regularly moist and well drained soils are ideal for the Latan palm, and it thrives in full sun. It is relatively salt tolerant and hardy in Cold Zones 10-12.
