Solitary, fan-leafed palm. Trunk to 10 inches thick and swollen at the base. Leaves are silvery blue with age. Height typically to 25 feet with a 12 foot spread.

Requirements Prefers alkaline to slightly acidic soils. Seems more silver in alkaline soils. Growth rate slow. Tolerates cold dips to just under freezing. Has good salt tolerance.
