One of the most popular species of Heliconia, rostrata boasts cascading, colorful flowers that will also attract pollinators (especially hummingbirds!) to your garden. Sometimes referred to as "hanging lobster claw" due to the shape of its inflorescences, it also produced dark blue fruits. It is a perennial, rhizomatous ornamental which will remain in bloom for weeks at a time! It typically reaches heights around 6 feet in an optimal habitat.

Requirements Preferring full sun to slight shade, this is a robust grower. Regularly moist soil is ideal for H. rostrata and rich humus is preferred. Water regularly throughout hotter seasons to preserve color and longevity of blossoms!
