Growing up to 40 feet tall in habitat, this palm is specific to the region of Guantanamo, where it is currently endangered due to lack of local conservation efforts. It is solitary with a slender trunk and smooth leaf scars most of the way up. Its fibers and fine and feel like fabric to the touch, and its palmate leaves take on a variation of color from silver to blue to light green.

Requirements This palm prefers alkaline soils that are well-draining. They have a moderate growth rate and has good salt and heat tolerance, which places it firmly in Zone 10-11.
