This salt loving succulent is not only an attractive ornamental, but also a beautiful and easy to propagate medicinal plant that hails from California. Much like aloe, its juices can be applied topically to relieve sunburn, minor cuts and scrapes, chafing and insect stings. Its fruits and flowers are a rare sight in cultivation, but appear bright pink, a hue also visible in its branches as it matures.
Requirements Regularly moist soil is best for this species, and it can withstand incredible amounts of salt and salt wind. Sandy, poor quality soils are fine for this hardy grower.
