A. pinnata is easily one of the oldest palms in cultivation, so much so that its origins are unverifiable. It can be tapped like a maple tree for syrup, which can then be dried into sugar or fermented into alcohol. As its name suggests, its leaves have pinnate venation.
Requirements This palm can grow with full sun to partial shade and has a cold tolerance down to 28 degrees while maintaining its foliage. It may survive but defoliate at 22 degrees F. Regular watering is ideal but this palm is moderately drought tolerant as well.
