Description:
Solitary, spiny, feather-leafed, crownshaft palm. Trunk to 1 foot thick with cone of stilt roots at bottom. Dark green leaves undivided when emerging. Height to 25 ft.
Requirements:
Prefers acidic to slightly alkaline moist soils. Growth rate medium to fast. Can tolerate brief cold dips to the low 40s. Has very slight salt tolerance.
